10000 – 8200BC: Larnaca boasts one of the few places in Cyprus that can show evidence of life during the Pre-Neolithic period. Just a few kilometers from Larnaca, near the village of Agia Anna, the bones of local primitives were discovered.

1200 – 1000 BC: The arrival of Archaeans, a Greek colonist in Kition.
750 – 480 BC: The city kingdom became autonomous and very powerful by the end of the Assyrian dominion in Cyprus.
2nd century BC: Kition prospered in the Hellenistic times under the rule of the Ptolemaic (Empire of Egypt). The last Ptolemaic Queen of Cyprus was Cleopatra the Beautiful.

1190 – 1486 AD: During the Frankish occupation, Kition began to be called 'L’ Arnica' in French, eventually morphing into Larnaca.
1489 – 1571 AD: The Venetians maximized the exploitation of Larnaca's salt, which they traded with great profit.
1571 – 1878 AD: After the Ottomans(Turkish) invasion, the port of Larnaca remained the most important in Town. In 1625 AD, the castle was reconstructed, as it can be seen today, to serve as the protector of the Larnaca port.
1878 – 1960 AD: The British colonial-style buildings of the palm tree promenade(Finikoudes) and the pier of the Larnaca Marina were constructed a year after the British occupation to serve trade and administration purposes, as the town was still the most important in Cyprus.
1960 AD: The island's independence was earned in 1960 and Larnaca had a mixed predominantly Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot population
The Church of Saint Lazarus (Greek: Ιερός Ναός Αγίου Λαζάρου), is a late-9th century church in Larnaca, Cyprus. It belongs to the Church of Cyprus, an autocephalous Greek Orthodox Church.
The Church of Saint Lazarus is named after the New Testament figure Lazarus of Bethany in which Jesus raised him from the dead. According to Orthodox tradition, sometime after the Resurrection of Christ, Lazarus was forced to flee Judea because of rumoured plots on his life and came to Cyprus. There he was appointed by Paul and Barnabas as the first Bishop of Kition (present-day Larnaca).
He is said to have lived for thirty more years and on his death was buried there for the second and last time. The Church of Saint Lazarus was built over the reputed tomb of Lazarus.

Stavrovouni is the earliest documented monastery on the island. The oldest written reference dates from the Byzantine period, and it proves that Stavrovouni had been an important religious centre since the 4th century. The relevant information can be found in the memoirs of a Russian traveler, Abbot Daniel, who stayed on Cyprus in 1106.
He recorded that the Holy Cross was located on Mount Olympus with the objective of "warding off evil spirits and curing any illness", and he noted, "This cross is like a meteorite, it is not supported in the ground, because the Holy Ghost holds it in the empty space. I, unworthy man, knelt down before this holy, mysterious object and have seen with my own, sinful eyes the inherent holy grace present in this place."
After its foundation, Stavrovouni was occupied by Orthodox monks living according to the rule of St. Basil.
Location: located on the peak of the mountain of the same name (Stavrovouni) in the District of Larnaca.
The visitor is fascinated by the quiet, idyllic and majestic environment of the monastery, the church of which stands in the middle of the monastery complex.
Around the church are the semi-vaulted two storeyed cloisters. The monastery started functioning as from 1965 with nuns who came from the monastery of Agios Georgios Alamanos. They gave life to a men’s monastery which stopped operating a long time ago.

Hala Sultan Tekke or the Mosque of Umm Haram (Turkish: Hala Sultan Tekkesi) is a Muslim shrine on the west bank of Larnaca Salt Lake, near Larnaca, Cyprus. Umm Haram (Turkish: Hala Sultan) was the Islamic prophet Muhammad's wet nurse and the wife of Ubada bin al-Samit.[citation needed] Hala Sultan Tekke complex is composed of a mosque, mausoleum, minaret, cemetery, and living quarters for men and women. The term tekke (convent) applies to a building designed specifically for gatherings of a Sufi brotherhood, or tariqa, and may have referred to an earlier feature of the location. The present-day complex, open to all and not belonging to a single religious movement, lies in a serene setting on the shores of the Larnaca Salt Lake, which appears to be an important site also in prehistory. Hala Sultan Tekke is a listed Ancient Monument.

The EMIRA routes began in 1969 when the founder, Mr Michael, studied ceramics art in Famagusta. In 1975 due to the Turkish invasion in Cyprus, the artist emigrated to Athens where he continued his studies in ceramics art. Following this he opened his own pottery workshop there. In 1987 he returned to Cyprus and established Emira Pottery at 13 Mehmet Ali Str. near St. Lazarus church, as it is today.
The beauty of ceramics inspired him to expand his horizons and open a showroom with his creations. Our workshop is open to the public and visitors will have the opportunity to watch the artists creating, but they will also be challenged to try the magic of clay.

The Oak-Tree Wine Cellar was brought to life by family owned company.
The Wine Cellar was constructed with all the required specifications for the ideal display and cellaring of wines. All the wines on display both in the cellar and in our online website have all the information needed in assisting you to attain the wine of your preference. Common characteristic of the wines that we accommodate in our cellar and the new additions that are periodically added to our portfolio is their origin by relatively small producers, cultivated in the wine maker’s own vineyards, bottled on location and in most cases made of indigenous grape varieties. The above characteristics ensure the authenticity of the wines coming from a specific region of the world aiding our ambition to create the ‘Micro Cosmos’ that are originally intended for you.
